Nutrisystem Week One: You Are What You Eat

That’s right I’ve lost FIVE INCHES & THREE POUNDS IN ONE WEEK!  Woo-hoo!

How many times growing up did you hear the phrase, “You are what you eat”?  While I’ve always known that healthy people eat healthy things and unhealthy people are eating unhealthy things I just never really internalized it.  ”You are what you eat” was just another thing teachers, parents, and cafeteria posters spouted like “no running inside”, or “busy hands are happy hands”.

After one week of eating Nutrisystem I’m starting to think that “You are what you eat” should be upgraded to the same level of importance as “Look both ways when you cross the street”.  Fat hit me like an eighteen wheeler because I didn’t look both ways when I ate.  I was always hungry, always snacking, and rarely making good choices.  Today I feel full after a meal or snack, I have energy, I feel good.  I thought I would never be able to drink the amount of water Nutrisystem prescribed but it was easy thanks to the water bottle they sent me, you only have to refill it once and you know you’ve had your daily water allotment.  I have more diet revelations to share but those will have to wait for next week.  Let’s dive into the juicy stuff:

Best Nutrisystem Dish of the Week: Ginger Cashew Chicken

This yummy meal is my favorite of the week.  It’s a little spicy, incredibly tasty, and like every meal on Nutrisystem super easy to make.  When I opened the box I was surprised to see that it was in a steam pouch.  I just placed it on a plate, nuked it for a few minutes and poured it onto my plate.  I had it with a little quinoa (Nutrisystem lets you add a “Smart Carb” to your evening meal) and it was actually a restaurant quality meal.

Worst Nutrisystem Dish of the Week: Beef & Potatoes

I was really looking forward to this dish since it looked like comfort food my mom would make when I was a kid.  It didn’t taste disgusting, there just wasn’t much taste to it.  I doctored it up a smidge with some pepper and a dash of red pepper flakes.  It just fell flat for me.  I won’t order it again but the potatoes were actually better consistency than I expected.
